There is an abundance of great knitting out in the universe right now, so much so that I've had a hard time making my own covet because I've been too busy knitting! Ok... that, and conjunction with watching an entire season of Heroes I've been content =)

I'll begin with the Shopping Tunic from Twinkle's Big City Knits. obv. in one color. I'm all over THIS one called Urchin from Twinkle's softy chunky line. It reminds me of king Kong? Another Twinkle covet is the Rockefeller Sweater. I would knit this in a tighter gauge than recommended to be warmer. Mabel from berroco.com Love the arrowhead lace. Can you tell I like long sweaters yet? the buttons are cute, but im not 14. add more later!

Greetings from the Knit Cafe- Lacy Skirt

So, I've been working on this Lacy Skirt from Greetings from the Knit Cafe, because I love it madly.

I'm just about finished the lace panel on the second half, but here's an unblocked picture of the first finished half: I'm pretty pleased with it. I'm experimenting with the waist, because I think drawstring waists are bulky under tops and have the potential for slippage, so I added ribbing around the waist, and I'm planning on threading elastic threads through the waistband for extra staying up power. But I'm waiting until I try it on to judge how much more I'll need. If I'm lucky, the ribbing will be enough. I do really love the lace panels at the bottom, though. here's a close up of mine:

I love it. I imagine it'll have a flirty little swish with every step I take. I hope it's not too warm to wear in the summer, I think it'll be lovely. If it is, i'll wear it with knee-high boots and a little slinky top. Hot!

The Lady that gets Around

I'm working on Lady Eleanor, the much knitted and much blogged wrap from Scarf Style (Ed. Pam Allen). Like everyone else, I'm also using Noro Silk Garden, but my colourway is #243, full of cool-toned earthy shades of greens, greys, and plums. Isn't that lovely? Don't you just want to curl up on it's cushy softness?

Except those of you who know Noro Silk Garden know that it obviously gets it's name from being dragged through the bushes at some point, and I'm convinced some of it's 50 grams is coming from the bits of plants and twigs that are still in the yarn. I'm also not impressed with how it gets very thin in some places, and is thick and chunky in others. And last but not least, there seem to be weird bits of curly, elastic-y whit bits in it. I pick them out. But.... it does knit up beautifully. it's colourways are perfect for entrelac, and it does make for a cuddly wrap, when all is said and done. And I'm hard pressed to think of any other companies putting out such wonderfully artistic and varied colourways.

I'v been knitting on 5mm circulars, not the original 7 or 8 mm it called for, as the Noro knits up much better on 5 mm. I don't expect to be finished it before the end of summer, since I'm just chiselling away at it between other things. But I think I'll get a lot of wear out of it come fall. Here's a close-up:

Coveted Objects of Knitting Desire

As many knitters do, when i'm not actually knitting, I trawl the internet looking for things to knit, things to inspire knitting, and various forms of yarn porn. I get cold easily, but also adore skimpy tops, so there are mayn reasons to knit things with sleeves all year long for me.

I think both Jen and I adore deviating from patterns, forging out on our own, and really just thinking about knitting far more than any sane person has right doing. Currently, I covet and e-stalk the following items:
I would wear this to work. And probably every day, since I'm convinced the office is way colder than it really is.

I love this little shrug, and the way it just seems to say, 'I will go with everything in your summer wardrobe'.... but only if not in that minty green shade. I don't think I've ever said to anyone, "hey, you look great in minty green." You know why? Because nobody does.

I will knit this or die trying. I love it to death.

I'm not usually a big, chunky, bulky cardi fan, but this, THIS I love. This I would wear. Of course, Kim Hargreaves is on of the many knitting goddesses I worship.

Another Kim Hargreaves. Love the Williow sweater vest. I do not own a single sweater vest, because I keep saying that I could knit one so easily. Yet I never do. But this might change my mind.
