I'm Julie Crawford, a knitter/designer/writer in Toronto, Canada. I learned to knit when I was a little kid, and then got a lot more into it when I was living in Istanbul, Turkey 2002-2004 (teaching English) and started knitting socks. When I came back to Canada, I branched into baby sweaters for friends who began having little ones, but it was a difficult time in 2007 that really got me knitting seriously- learning about the variety of yarn fibers, and the wealth of beautiful knitting patterns out there. The fact that it's also the same year Ravelry launched meant that it was even more fun and engrossing to be a knitter than ever before.
I wrangle social media and do some pattern design for Tanis Fiber Arts, a Montreal-based and family-produced yarn company. I love it! I was a fan of the yarns before, and each time Tanis comes out with a new base or a new colourway I get all fired up. It's really exciting for me to be a part of TFA, and has expanded my design repertoire signifcantly- the yarn is so inspiring.
I'm married to this awesome dude, parent to this amazing little girl, and carer of the following fur babies: two cats- Yarn and Gatsby, and one hedgehog- Bruce Quillis.
